The Water Wonderland Chapter’s 2000 Boating Season Ends On A High Note!
by Chip DeBoer

On October 21, a crisp and sunny day welcomed over 75 WWC members and friends to the Blue Bird Inn in Leland for the Chapter's Annual Meeting.

Thanks go to Hal and Gwen Muenchow once again for handling all of the reservations for this event.
The Annual Meeting wrapped up a very busy and highly successful year for the chapter. All agree that this success was due to the dedication and continued support of our members throughout the entire year.

Cocktails and conversation prior to a terrific meal were the first order of business.

Following dinner, Dick Sligh called the meeting to order and presided over the meeting.

Ann DeBoer provided the Treasurer's report through September 30, 2000. She was happy to report that the Chapter currently shows assets of approximately $27,000.00. The Mac2000 event was a great success and although we still have some outstanding bills it appears that the entire Mac2000 event will cost the Michigan and Water Wonderland Chapters approximately $2000.00 each.

The next order of business was the election of officers. Nominating Committee Chairperson Hal Muenchow presented the nominees recommended by his committee. There were no additional nominees and the following officers and directors were elected unanimously with terms beginning January 1, 2001:

Jim Mersman, President
John Bergstrom, Vice President
Ann DeBoer, Treasurer
Bill Woodrow, Director
Chuck DeNoyer, Director
John Tobin, Director

Following the elections, Dick Sligh commented on his term as President of the Chapter stating that it was a privilege to be associated with such a great group especially during the year of the ACBS's 25th anniversary and Mac2000.

A number of awards were given including the 1999 President's Cup, which was belatedly presented to Bill Pavlak who
was unable to attend last year's meeting.

The 2000 President's cup was awarded to Chip DeBoer.

Jeff Rogers received a special recognition award, donated by Bob Smith, for his many years of dedicated service to the ACBS at both the Chapter and the International ACBS levels.

Jim Mersman presented Dick Sligh with a gift from the Chapter for his services as President for the better part of the past two years. The gift was a framed picture of the Steamship Alabama heading into port at Mackinac Island.

Many door prizes and gifts were donated for this event and with the help of Brian Mersman there were many happy winners.

Given the nature of our Chapter and its members, I think we are all winners!

Have a great winter and we'll see you in the spring!
