The
Water Wonderland Chapter held their 13th annual "Boats on the Boardwalk"
show located on the Boardman river in wonderful Traverse City, Michigan.
It was a beautiful day that lured 60 outstanding boats for the show.
The low water levels of Lake Michigan had been a concern earlier in
the year; however, by the show date it was high enough to continue as
usual to show the boats in the water.
The featured boats this year were the "Classic Small Craft"
which included canoes and rowboats. Of special note was a 1900 wooden
Indian "dugout" unrestored canoe shown by Russ Hicks.
It
was a very full day thanks to the many details attended to by the chairman,
Jim Kenyon, and his committees which made the show an unforgettable
time for not only the participants but also for the many hundreds of
spectators that came to view the sparkling old boats. Wooden toy boats
were provided to the junior boaters to paint as they wished and take
home to provide many happy hours of fun just like mom and dad.
